Seasonal shutdown maintenance of closed cooling tower -- HuaTal Cooling Tower

If the closed cooling tower system is seasonal shutdown for maintenance, it is recommended that the entire closed cooling tower system (closed cooling tower, connection piping system, heat exchanger, etc.) to be drained, also open the water basin drain valve and let all water out. During the shutdown period, clean the closed cooling tower and carry out necessary maintenance, particular attention should be paid to the support and shaft (or drive shaft) of the mechanical equipment. Check the metal surface of the closed cooling tower after the shutdown and cleaning is completed, also to determine if a protective coating is necessary, but do not repaint the closed cooling tower as soon as you see stains and temporary rust spots. If the metal is shiny again after cleaning, means the alloy plating layer is still effective. 

    1. Closed cooling tower structural frame: check the bolt joints, if any loosened, tighten them;

    2. Fan: Check all the bolts of the fan system. If any loosened, tighten them;

    3. Fan shaft bearings: Lubricate fan shaft bearings at the end of each operating season;

    4. Fan motor: clean and lubricate the motor at the end of each operation season according motor supplier's advices. Check motor fixing bolts. If loosened, tighten them.

If the closed cooling tower is idle for a period, in addition to maintaining all parts in accordance with the maintenance instructions, we also need to do the following additional work:

    1.Turn ventilator bearings and motor bearings manually at least once a month. After making sure that the power switch of the unit has been closed and locked, hold the fan blade by hand and rotate for several circles to check for any abnormal conditions;

    2. If the closed cooling tower will be idle for longer than several weeks, turn the gearbox (if provided) for at least 5 minutes per week, or check whether the pulley and sleeve are corroded, or any scrapes on the outer shell;

    3. If the closed cooling tower will be idle for longer than 3 weeks, fill the gearbox with oil. Drain oil to normal level before operation;

    4. If the closed cooling tower will be idle for longer than 3 weeks, lubricate the fan shaft bearings and adjust all the bolts of the motor;

    5. If the closed cooling tower will be idle for longer than 1 month, the insulation testing of the motor shall be conducted every six months;
