Closed cooling towers are an essential component of industrial and commercial refrigeration systems. In a closed cooling tower, cooling water is usually pumped to the nozzle at the top of the tower and then evenly distributed on the packing layer. As the water flows through the packing and the air flows in the opposite direction, heat is transferred from the water to the air, thereby achieving cooling. If the amount of cooling water is insufficient, the water film will not be able to completely cover the surface of the packing, reducing the contact area between water and air, thereby reducing the heat exchange efficiency. On the contrary, if the amount of water is too large, although the contact area between water and air can be increased, it will also increase the energy consumption of the water pump and may cause excessive water droplets to be entrained in the tower, affecting the normal operation of the equipment.

Therefore, in order to ensure the efficient operation of the closed cooling tower, the appropriate amount of cooling water should be determined according to the specific environmental conditions and system requirements. This usually involves a comprehensive consideration of factors such as the design parameters of the equipment, climatic conditions, inlet water temperature, outlet water temperature, and required cooling load.
