What is the wet bulb temperature? The wet-bulb temperature (WBT) is the temperature read by a thermometer covered in water-soaked cloth (wet-bulb thermometer) over which air is passed. It is a means to calibrate the relative humidity of the air. The greater the difference in ambient air saturation, the greater the evaporation on the wet-bulb thermometer and the lower the humidity. The relative humidity of the air can be determined according to the difference between dry and wet bulb temperatures. The wet-bulb temperature(WBT) is the lowest temperature that can be reached under current ambient conditions by the evaporation of water only.
The characteristic parameters of climate are dry bulb temperature and relative humidity. At the same dry bulb temperature, the lower the relative humidity is, the lower the wet bulb temperature is. The greater the relative humidity, the higher the wet-bulb temperature! These parameters of climate are closely related to air conditioning system. But now the air conditioning design, only pay attention to the dry bulb temperature, and neglect the wet bulb temperature, so it will cause a great energy waste.
Summer is generally set as 26℃ ~ 29℃(dry bulb temperature), the relative humidity is 40-60%. When the indoor air temperature (dry ball temperature) exceeds 29℃, at this time is required air conditioning. When the temperature (dry bulb temperature) is high, whether the compressor needs to be started to cool the air depends on the wet bulb temperature. If the wet bulb temperature is less than 23℃, even if the dry bulb temperature is higher than 29℃, the most energy-saving cooling method is to adopt closed cycle cooling, namely water evaporation cooling.
The principle of cooling air conditioning in closed cooling tower is as follows. Refrigerant is water, air and water in the hybrid heat exchanger are wet and heat exchange, and make the part of the water evaporation (the equivalent of the compressor refrigeration system in the evaporator), causes the temperature of the air and water are close to the wet bulb temperature around, but after the evaporation of water vapor don't have to revert to liquid water, can be used in a closed cooling tower, saves the function of the compressor, which reflects its energy-saving features.
